Carina is a licensed cosmetologist & travel hair stylist based out of New York. Born & raised in Hawaii, all things beauty have been her greatest passion for most of her life.

She is a licensed educator, professional photographer & graphic designer. She has spent the past 15 years working on commercial photoshoots, weddings, private house calls and event styling while curating her signature style & go to techniques, favorite tools & must have products to ensure the most luxe, long lasting results. Her signature style is lived in, effortless, long lasting hair. She strives to make every client look like her best self, with a touch of glam.

She has trained stylists from multiple hair backgrounds in the blowout technique she uses today. Now, as an agency represented luxury bridal & travel hair stylist, she specializes in styling for clients from Hawaii to The Hamptons.

Carina’s calm & easy going personality help to create the perfect learning environment. Her signature style is effortless, chic, soft, modern, long lasting hair. Her ideal client wants to look polished and effortlessly glam. Never overdone.

Blowouts & Styling

  • The foundation of any good & long lasting hairstyle is a great blowout. From the wash to blow-dry to iron work, there’s so much more that goes into a blowout than many stylists realize. In my time as a blowout bar manager, I spent months on end taking 30+ clients per week doing blowout after blowout on any & all hair types you could imagine. In terms of what clients want - I’ve heard it all.

    I’ve trained stylists from multiple hair backgrounds in the blowout technique I use today.

    Now, as an agency represented bridal & travel hair stylist, I specialize in styling for clients from Hawaii to California, NYC, The Hamptons, Montauk and beyond.

    In my customized hands-on & interactive blowout & styling sessions, I show you how to give your clients fresh, stylized, effortless blowouts that will last them as long as possible. I also show you how to achieve your looks in a timely fashion to help you work faster without compromising quality.

  • Starting at $1500

    Travel fee not included

    Includes:

    • Up to four attendees
    • Up to one hour styling foundations
    • Two hour demonstration only - client may select up to 2 styles from Carina’s provided Style Guide. Style choices must be pre- approved by Carina. Note: Not all styles can be demonstrated back to back in one lesson. Carina will provide guidance

    Client/Salon Must Provide:

    • Clean, open space for class with access to outlets, table space and chairs

    • Model(s) for demonstration - minimum one model PER style with hair prepped in advance (a prep guide will be provided). Carina will provide guidelines for model hair based on selected style(s). An attendee may not serve as a model.

    Add Ons Available:

    • Additional attendees: $300 per person

    • Hands On/interactive lessons:
      $500 per person. Included: one 2-hour one- on-one session with guidance & critique on one style of choice. Client must provide a model with hair that is suitable to the style. Clients must provide their own location, tools & products. A list of required tools & products will be provided.

  • CONTRACT, FEE & RESERVATION RETAINER

    A signed contract & deposit are required for clients secure all classes & appointments with Kimiko New York. Classes & appointments are not locked in or guaranteed until your contract is signed & your deposit is made. Confirmation of all accommodations, flights and rental car bookings must be provided to the stylist before booking is confirmed & guaranteed.

    Should a client cancel a class with Kimiko New York, the deposit is non-refundable and non-transferable.

    DEMONSTRATIONS

    Carina will provide her own kit tools & products for any demonstrations. She will use the tools & products that she uses regularly in her kit. Clients are to provide models. For hair demonstrations, Carina must approve of model hair prior to scheduled class.

It’s all about the base.

The foundation of your hairstyle is the most important part. No amount of iron work, teasing, or hair spray at the end will make up for a lack of a strong foundation. From my experience as a Drybar Manager, having the opportunity to do 30+ blowouts a week for months on end & training new stylists, I have seen first hand how a beautiful, comprehensive, long lasting style starts from prepping the hair. Once you master the perfect prep & blow dry techniques, you’ll see how the rest of your styling becomes THAT MUCH EASIER. Beautiful hair styles begin with educating our clients on how to prep before their event (the cut, the color, the wash, the extensions) & having excellent product knowledge (knowing exactly what each hair type needs) as well as a strong blowout technique.

Beauty Photography

  • The photos you take of your makeup and hair are just as important as the quality of your service itself. Your photos make up your portfolio - your social media, website & advertisements. Quite honestly, in this day, without a killer portfolio of your work, it’s very difficult to elevate yourself to new levels.

    I have spent the last 15 years curating my aesthetic & skillset as a beauty industry professional, licensed educator, seasoned graphic designer & multi-faceted photographer. I have taught design & photo theory, designed published print layout design work & worked in the high paced environment of sports photography. My “eye” is my most valuable asset - being able to envision what I want a photo to look like & bring it to life under any circumstances - strict time restraints, needing to get the video or photo in one shot, working in busy & crowded spaces.

    Let’s be real - who has the time to spend hours a day editing photos & videos? Most days I only have a few minutes to spare to get a post online. Sometimes you take a few photos of a client & realize later on when it’s too late to re-take the photo that you don’t really like any of them. My specialty is making it work. Learning how to take what I have & make it into something I can proudly share online & that’s coming from a detail-oriented perfectionist!

    In my customized hands-on & interactive beauty photography sessions, I take everything I’ve learned over the last decade & a half & make it easy & accessible for the everyday beauty professional to achieve.

    No fancy cameras, lighting or other equipment required. No paid photo editing apps or services needed. Just you, your smartphone, natural lighting & your natural environment.

    • Four hour photoshoot session
    • Up to 5 models (provided by client) • Four professionally edited photos per model
    • Two un-edited videos per model (maximum of 10 seconds per video)
    • Up to ten professionally edited behind the scenes photos

    Client/Salon Must Provide:

    • Model(s) for photography session - minimum one model with hair pre-styled before start of class

    • Clean space for photography

    • Access to natural lighting

    Add Ons Available:

    • Additional models: $300 per model
